About

About

As a fantasy illustrator, Virgile has always loved escaping into imaginary worlds. While other children played ball, he would open a book or dream up epic adventures filled with dragons and other wondrous monsters.

Originally a graphic designer, he later became a freelance illustrator for role-playing games and video games. True to his roots, he continues to draw inspiration from role-playing games, films, and myths to create dynamic illustrations in vivid colors.

Through his artwork, Virgile aims to tell stories — the kind you sense in the gleam of a raised sword, in the shadow where a creature lurks, or in the eyes of a weary hero.

Whether it's an epic quest or a fleeting moment, he pours all his energy into bringing life and movement to his images, inviting the viewer to craft their own story.

For him, an image is not an end in itself, but a gateway to a larger world.

His clients include, among others: Studio Agate, Spiderlings, Ghostfire Gaming, and private individuals.

Bio

Virgile was born on September 3, 1989, in Poitiers, but grew up in the Touraine region, where he spent the first part of his life. After earning a degree in graphic design and visual communication from Brassart School, along with a bachelor's in humanities from the University of Tours, he moved to Paris. There, he worked for four years as a freelance illustrator and designer, collaborating with startups and interior architects.

In 2014, he joined the National School of Games and Interactive Digital Media at CNAM to pursue a master's degree. During this time, he worked with the CNRS on a scientific game exploring the dynamics of subatomic particles.

In 2018, a personal transition journey began—one that would deeply reshape his understanding of the body and identity. This experience now informs and enriches his visual storytelling.

For eight years, Virgile balanced a dual career: as a designer for major companies such as BPI, Enedis, and Adeo, helping them enhance customer experiences; and as an illustrator for up-and-coming video game studios. Alongside his professional work, he continued developing his craft through international training programs, including Lucidpixul (Canada) and SmartArt School (USA).

In 2020, his artwork Call to the Sphere was selected among the top 15% of jury favorites in the BoldBrush competition.

Today, Virgile has chosen to leave the design world behind to focus entirely on his artistic passion. He now lives and works near Amboise.
